HILL's GREENHOUSES / BOREAL NURSERIES
The Nolalu Eco Centre is proud to be associated with Hill's Greenhouses/Boreal Nurseries in Murillo. Founded almost a century ago, this operation has evolved to cutting-edge tree seedling production with a long heritage of innovative, industry-leading entrepreneurship. Hill's Greenhouses has come to be regarded as a leading pioneer in the advancement of better reforestation practices in Northern Ontario.
Actively involved with the comunity, owner Kevin van Duyn belongs to various committees, heading up forestry related events, as well as recently being appointed to the Board of Directors for Forest Renewal Co-op. Boreal Nurseries and Hill's Greenhouses are also proud to be an official sponsor for Scouts Canada, along with volunteering time with the Spruce River Forest LCC with seasonal cleanups of pulp load check areas.
One mature tree can absorb as much carbon in a year as a car produces while driving 42,000 km, so planting a tree is a big help in fighting climate change. Kevin van Duyn actively promotes tree planting and generously donated hundreds of tree seedlings to the nolalu Eco Centre to hand out to their visitors. The Eco Centre also planted hundres of Kevin's trees on their own property and invites you to do the same (or at least a few)!
