Digital Photography – developing the photographic eye
This creative 2 ˝-day workshop is designed for those who are familiar enough with the workings of their digital camera, and are now looking for inspiring ways to improve their skills as a photographer. We will start the evening with some of the basic principles involved in making more interpreting pictures: the effects of f-stops, depth of field, exposure time, focal length, use of colour and types of lighting.
Over the next 2 days we’ll explore the different photographic genres: nature & landscape photography, portraits, Black & White photography, night photography, the documentary. Projecting the day’s results on the big screen, selected photo work will be critiqued in a positive and encouraging manner. If time permits, we will look at some software to correct and adjust your work.
Each participant will go home with their personal portrait taken during this workshop – with an added Canada Day touch!
Please bring your own camera and USB / firewire cable to download
your work to our computer, and if you have one: a
tripod.

Hubert is a photographer and filmmaker, born & raised in Holland. A free-lance photographer, he has worked all over the world and has had numerous shows. Hubert won a Canadian scholarship to work and study in Montreal at the renowned National Film Board of Canada, and fell in love with Canada. Back in Holland he started his own successful film production company, until he was invited to join the roster of directors at a Toronto-based production company, 10 years ago now. Hubert took the leap and never looked back. He has directed at several film production companies in and around Toronto, taught at Confederation College’s Film Program, and still considers photography his first real passion (after green energy, of course!).
