Brew Your Own Bio-Diesel (intro)
July 7 and August 4
10:00 a.m. - 4.30 p.m.
$85.00
Do you want to contribute to the reduction of our fuel dependency, our ecological
footprint as well as save money? If so, this workshop is for you. You will
enjoy a very practical day learning about the benefits of bio-diesel, and a
simple way of making it from used vegetable oil. The day will be a balance
of theory and practice. Topics discussed in the theory period include: Bio-diesel,
what it is, advantages and limitations, processes used to make it (the mini-batch
method vs. titration), washing and filtering. The practical sections focuses
on making bio-diesel safely using easily obtainable equipment materials for
a reasonable amount of money.
co-ordinator: Gaétan Ayotte
Gaétan Ayotte is a veteran teacher with over 13 years of professional
experience. For him, teaching is a process of giving power to others.
He is also a person who attempts to put his principles into practice.
His wife Karen and he have lived off grid in a modern efficient home
for the last 10 years. Their home is powered by the sun and wind and
their vehicle operates partly on bio-diesel. They also garden extensively
for their food production. In this way, they have some measure of control
over their energy usage and production. What Gaétan teaches, he attempts
to live.
